April 7, 2021 Work from Exocrine Gland Biology and Regeneration Research group recently published in International Journal of Molecular Science. Assistant Professor Joao N Ferreira and his colleague demonstrated that EGCG treated salivary gland promoted epithelial proliferation. After radiation injury, treatment with EGCG increased the epithelial progenitor cells and pro-acinar cells. In addition, EGCG treatment resulted in the reduction of apoptotic bodies, indicated by transmission electron microscopic observation and cleaved Caspase 3 levels.
